Welcome to The Historical Book Club __Monica Bullock___________________ and thanks so much for joining us today. 1. Are you a reader/writer? Im both! 2. Why don’t you tell us a little about yourself? Are you married? Any kids? Where do you live? I am married, I have two sons, a cat, a dog and I live on the Alabama Gulf Coast. 3. What are your fondest memories of reading? I fell in love with reading after I won a book reading contest. My happiest moments as a kid were spent hiding in my clubhouse with a book as the rain fell. 4. What are some of your favorite authors and books? Gosh, what didnt I read? I guess my favorites were the Raggedy Ann books, the Little House series, Nancy Drew (of course) then I got into everything spooky. I loved ghost story collections. 5. If you could describe what writing/reading means to you, how would you do so? I cant explain it but when Im writing, I feel purpose. I know this is what I should be doing. At all times, I have something to write with and paper nearby, even when Im in my pajamas. 6. What is your favorite snack & drink while reading/writing? Coffee and Cajun trail mix. 7. Which book do you think was best adapted into a movie? Why? Gosh, I know way more about books than I do movies. I guess the best adaption Ive seen from book to movie would be Jaws. Im so glad that the movie didnt work in the affair between Mrs. Brody and Hopper. I hated it in the book. 8. Which book was the least successful adaptation into a movie? Why? Least successful was Interview with the Vampire. How can you unwind all the details that Anne Rice pours into every page of her books? The movie was okay but the book...wow! 9. Why do you like to read/write historical novels? I like reading historical fiction because I feel as if Im there, somehow, experiencing something that really happened. As a writer, I feel as if I am empowering the voices of the past, telling their story, hopefully in a compelling and thoughtful way. 10. Write your favorite quote and explain why you picked it? My favorite quote is Live life uninhibited. I try to write (and forgive me for using this tired phrase) outside of the box. 11. Any other things you’d like to share? This would be a good place for authors to mention their books. Im very proud of my book, Seven Sisters. Im currently working on the second book and hope to share so much more history from the pre-Civil war period. Hopefully, readers will like the way the characters work together to solve the mystery of what happened to the young, beautiful Miss Cottonwood. My book is on Amazon, CreateSpace and Nook.
