Welcome to my campaigns official Facebook page! Im running for State Assembly to fight income inequality and climate change, which are the two great moral challenges of our time. Im also running to keep our neighborhoods affordable and livable, and improve our schools. I have a detailed policy plan published on my website - petesikora. Please take a look. For almost 20 years, Ive been working on these issues as an organizer and advocate. I was the organizing director at NYPIRG, then worked for Consumers Union, and I now work at a progressive labor union, CWA. Ive successfully fought to increase the minimum wage, to stop tuition hikes at SUNY and CUNY, to close the dirtiest power plant in NYC, and to pass legislation over massive opposition from the real estate industry that has helped reduce child lead poisoning by 66%. I know how to achieve real results. In our area, I led NYPIRGs successful campaign to close down Con Eds Hudson Avenue power station in Vinegar Hill, which was the dirtiest, most polluting power plant in NYC. I also founded Wal-Mart No Way, a street campaign to stop Wal-Mart from locating a store at Albee Square on the Fulton Mall in 2005. Most recently, I founded Parents for LICH, a coalition of parents that fought to protect our neighborhood hospital. Im proud to have won the endorsements of progressive elected officials and organizations, including State Senator Daniel Squadron, Councilmembers Brad Lander and Steve Levin, and the Working Families Party. You can see a full list of my endorsements on my website. Please contact me with any questions, and Ill be more than happy to answer them. I hope I can count on your vote on September 9th! Sincerely, Pete Sikora
