Welcome to the April 2014 edition of A Candle for Michael newsletter. Its our first anniversary issue. Please feel free to download, print and share it with other MJ fans. And now for a bit of a confession… there have been times when I’ve considered giving up our Facebook group and the newsletter, participation in forums and MJ websites, and active MJ fandom itself simply for the sake of emotional well-being. I know I am not alone in feeling such turbulent emotions, and sometimes the need for self-preservation surfaces – as it must. Every slight against Michael’s credibility and character cuts deeply; any negation of his artistic output (particularly in the 90s and 00s – my favourite eras) gets my blood to boiling. However, at the same time, I find solidarity in the feelings of other fans, and healing when I get back to listening to Michael’s music, and being mesmerized by his performances, and inspired by his acts of charity. I hope that the focus of our group and the news reported in the newsletter serve to remind you, as they do me, the true nature of Michaels legacy - as an artist and a man. - Kerry
