Well...I did say the book was coming but its a little late. Its been a busy week. I want to start by saying, I wont dramatize what happened to Nathan but I wont undermine what God did either... Our phone rang at 3:19 a.m. on Tuesday, April 8, 2014. It was our 18 year old son Nathan calling us from Nashville, TN. He is a freshman at Belmont University. Nathan was experiencing chest pains and asked to speak with his dad who has had heart episodes. Jack told him to eat some tums and drink a carbonated drink to see if it might just be a case of indigestion. They decided he should take an aspirin to be safe too. Nathan walked to the nearby Circle K for aspirin but they didnt have any. When none of that helped he called us back still hurting around 4:00 a.m. At this point he had awoken his girlfriend Ashlyn (our special angel) to drive him around looking for a Walgreens to get aspirin. She had left the comforts of her on dorm to take care of our son...BLESSING! I immediately told him to get to the ER which Ashlyn chimed in, Thats what I told him. The first doctor told Nathan hes young and probably has nothing to worry about...the EKG told a different story. It was abnormal. The chest x-ray revealed a shadow around his heart, leading them to believe it was fluid. An ultrasound didnt show anything crazy but they ordered more tests. Nathan was hurting in his chest, arm, and back for several hours. The echocardiogram lead the doctors to believe they were seeing a small tear in one of his heart valves. During all this time, Jack and I were putting many miles behind us to get to our son and Ashlyn was going back and forth from classes to the hospital. When the CT scan was ordered Jack and I prayed this test would show healing. Nathan was told the results would determine if he would be admitted or released from the hospital (Vanderbilt). All our prayers were answered! Nathan was released from the hospital. He has a thick valve and will see a cardiologist in the next few days. We are so blessed to serve a risen Savior and blessed by His people. We want to thank you all for remembering us! A BIG thank you goes to Ashlyn, the Jacksons, and Kenley Flowers!!! Jack and I also want to thank Tim Timmoms for writing the song Cast Your Cares. Please dont forget to pray for each other and especially our young people!!! Much love to all!!!
