Well, I just have to share how God protected me yesterday. I work - TopicsExpress

Well, I just have to share how God protected me yesterday. I work as Infection Preventionist for 2 small hospitals located about 65 miles apart here in the beautiful northwest of Michigans Upper Peninsula. Ive been doing this for 2 1/2 years, so this is now my third winter here. Twice a week I drive to the second hospital to work. The stretch of road between Houghton and Ontonagon is about 50-some miles of nothing but wilderness. It is located just a few miles off Lake Superior, so lake effect snows and wind is quite frequent. The previous two winters have been awful: 306 and 360 of snowfall, respectively. Last winter I began praying that God would open another door and get me off the road or move me out of this area. Hopefully closer to my family. This winter has hit hard this year and, thus far, weve seen 111 of snowfall here in the Keweenaw. Yesterday morning I looked out my window and thought it looked pretty bad out--blowing snow and minus 8 degrees. The weather reports didnt really have anything except a winter weather advisory for blowing snow along the area I travel. No school closures in our area. So, I hopped in the company van and headed to Ontonagon. The drive there, which takes 1 1/4 hours on good roads, took 2 1/4 hours--which is not a first in this weather. Just after lunch, one of the staff at the hospital there told me that the road conditions were worsening, as the hospital courier had to turn around and return to Ontonagon. So, I wrapped things up and headed home. The first part of the journey wasnt too awful. But the further I went, the worse it got until I was having to creep along in white-out conditions at about 10 mph with my flashers on. Couldnt see the road or the banks. Couldnt pull over or safely stop. All of the sudden I saw a large SUV heading into my lane straight for me. Im not sure how fast he was going, but I was going about 25 mph at that point. He veered to my right and--I dont know why--I veered to my left. I was sure wed collide. However, we didnt and I returned to my side of the road without even losing control of the van. Ive played the scenario over and over in my mind and there is simply no other explanation: God intervened and kept us from colliding and kept me on the road. It was if God directed me to turn my wheel to the left and brought me back into my lane. I didnt sleep well last night. I prayed. But only one answer was evident. I cannot make that drive any longer. So, Ive resigned. I will go to Ontonagon a few more times before my final day with the company. But, I feel this is the right thing for me. I have some job possibilities lined up. Im not too worried. But I am asking all my praying friends to pray for me, for a different job--a door to be opened by God. Thanks for reading this!!!
