Well...That was an jnteresting day.....Last Sunday, my stallion, Premier turned up with a deep gash on his back. Pretty fresh, and dripping blood..about 6 inches long and at least 1/4 inch deep. Located about where your butt would hit his back if you rode him bareback. Ran almost 90 degrees off his spine. It was weird, but horses always have weird things happen to them.... filed under the huh? File. Was gone Tuesday and wednesday. Went back to the barn this morning, and Adam RTA had a huge gash and chunk taken out of his throat. It was a couple of days old. Started about 3-4 inches below where the head attaches to the neck, and went down about 8 inches. Very deep. 1/4-1/2 inches deep. Deep enough that his jugular vein would have been close... at the bottom was a big chunk gone. Like the size and depth of a strangles abcess bursting. But it was not that. Vet was here to do a chiro adjustment on Piper, so he looked at the wounds..Not barbed wire or t-post wound... no other wounds on legs except Adam had a shallow gash on his flank. We are baffled. Called the Conservation Department, and talked to their expert..He is coming out tomorrow to look at the wounds and see if bear or mountain lion could have done them....
