Well if you want my opinion, it was caused when Earth, after breaking free from Saturns orbit, then spiralling down to where it found a new balance orbit, (but not where it is today) and on that very long journey taking thousands upon thousands of years, picked up the moon, that was orbiting the sun just like Mercury is, with its gravity, that caused all the anomalies you mentioned. But we are living in an age where that kind of talk is going against religions draconian laws. Give it a few hundred years and this will be excepted as a viable explanation. And another thing Id like to point out here is, just like Mercury doesnt spin like Earth or Jupiter our moon was orbiting without spinning too, and this is the reason one side is heavier than the other. It ploughed into whatever was in its way to cause that one sidedness. Now trapped in Earth gravity its heavy side will always be forced outwards. This movie of the moon trying to spin, below.
