Well, it only took 10 years of my life, but I think I finally finished Act I. It has been written, discarded, and rewritten countless times. I have composed probably close to one-hundred hours of music only to throw the vast majority of it away dissatisfied. But this, I think, is at last close to what I went searching for when I first started this project at the age of 15. Weve both matured quite a bit; what began as really awkward symphonic-video-game-metal has traversed a couple different genres along the way and evolved into a sprawling progressive soundtrack twice the length and scope of a commercial album. Its still really rough around the edges. Real instruments and musicians would probably help (just a little), the production quality is on par with 80s underground Norwegian black metal, the mastering is ALLLL over the place, there is a slew of little tweaks and nuanced alterations that need to be made, -- particularly with the percussion in places, -- but as far as the overall arrangement goes, the notes themselves, I think for the first time I have a final product I am satisfied with. I can now let the music side of things lie and give the libretto more attention. I have what I think is a beautiful, compelling story to tell and I have at last set the stage to tell it on. Once I finish that and get a new mic.... well, I suppose well see where we end up. I have to say Im pretty excited for whats next. This is, quite literally, my lifes work. Will a record company want it? I dont know. I dont think anyone has ever done anything quite like what I have in mind; I dont know if theres a marketable audience for it. But Im proud of what Ive done; I have written music that I as a fan of music enjoy listening to, which I think is every composers dream. Hopefully you will enjoy it too. Track Listing: 1.
