Well...its been a long day. I did try to negotiate with Caitlin - TopicsExpress

Well...its been a long day. I did try to negotiate with Caitlin Burreta...in charge of demolition. I begged. She told me I had burned bridges. I told her it was not about me. It was important for her to do the right thing on behalf of the whole city and the historical significance of each and every artifact in the theater. She said she asked the schools and the Pabst in Milwaukee. She said it takes too much time and is not part of her job to save. I begged for one day any day and said wed all figure it out. Wed find a truck and the people to take things down. I wrote to Jason, the theater architecture buff...and people I could think of and told them to contact her or the CW. Today I took photos twice. And, Im happy to report that the lighting DID come down Jeremy. So...either she felt bad or someone actually called and impressed upon her how valuable it IS...for any person, museum, or architecture buff or any lucky theater that is being restored. And, now the hard part. Im going to put up some photos of the demolition. Its not to make people feel badly. We all feel badly enough. (Although, personally, if it makes us MAD at CW or our city leaders...thats fine with me.) However. Im putting up photos because there are other significant carved wood pieces that are still in there. The magnificent domed ceiling, acoustically engineered, is still up. And I have to show someone, maybe theater architect friends of Jason or anyone...what is still left. How beautiful it is. IF any of you or anyone you know wants these things they should contact Caitlin Burreta...and come figure out how to pick it out of this horrific rubble. I completely agree that the city of FdL should have done their best to remove every single historical piece/valuable piece. A sidewalk sale. Anything. Even bricks. Yes. Note that parts of the stage are missing. I HOPE she is saving the trap doors. The whole stage was made up of trap doors, able to be reconfigured to any layout. If you are out there...and you want these things...Yell loud and yell now. The photos are sized for FB. If you want nicer prints ask me for larger files. And. Again. She DID take down the lighting. I have NO idea if she sold it or just trashed it somewhere else. DO ask her about that if YOU have not burned bridges. (i.e. if YOU have not told her to save things and if you have not challenged their mold issues. Because thats all I did. So...do YOU see mold in this theater? Neither do I. Here are a couple photos...but Ill post a whole album of the current condition of things in a separate post. Im sorry if the images are disturbing. Because they really are.
