Well its been a quiet week for Roy Hodgson hasnt it, qualifying for Rio one minute then embroiled in a race row with one disgruntled player leaking his use of a monkey and astronaut joke to the press. Its been made clear that Roy meant no offence and Im sure thats correct but it does make you see Roy in a different way. Heres me thinking he was into complex tactics and defensive shape when actually it seems he prefers to deliver the lads some wisecracks and funny stories. I wonder who he will be taking on his coaching team to Rio perhaps Scouse funnyman John Bishop is in the frame to keep the players entertained at half time while Roy sticks to working out what to do about the fact we are 3-0 down to Spain at half time. Rio promises to be a feast of Football in the South American capitol of fun Brazil and we are now booked in and sure to be part of it and for that Hodgson deserves great credit because this is not a vintage crop of England players particularly in the striking department. Wellbeck the Striker who never scores was particularly embarrassing on Tuesday and sums up the paucity of talent we have at our disposal, surely though this guy is not the answer for England or Man Utd. Speaking of Man Utd they face a stern test today as Southampton come to town a Southampton who start the day in fouth place as opposed to Man Utd who languish in ninth. Moyes needs some dominant home performances coupled with 3-0 and better wins to ease the nerves of the home crowd.
