Well, its been an interesting weekend so far: Last night, Brian - TopicsExpress

Well, its been an interesting weekend so far: Last night, Brian thought he heard splashing outside the front door. Went to investigate, there was a little bird that had fallen into our pond. He rescued it and gave it to me. I contacted the incredibly brilliant and caring Shelly Burrowes, in nearby Hamilton, who immediately offered to look after it, and gave advice as to how to care for it overnight. Love that woman - shes amazing! She also shared pix of two marsupials she is nurturing at the moment. Update: bird is just fine. Its a yellow ramped thornbill. Typical teenager - scruffy and daring. Shelly will be bringing him back to his territory soon. After the to-ing and fro-ing caused by the casualty, I heard voices just down the Highway. Went to investigate (not that Im paranoid, you understand... Too many years in the jewellery and gemstone business), and three off-road type of vehicles, with occupants, loudly discussing where the East-West Road really is. Told em if they needed anything, including Google Maps, to come in and see us. Apparently their iPhone maps worked just fine - eventually. This morning: Brians birthday. He hates food in bed, so I didnt even entertain that option for brekky. He just had his usual. Well, a third cup of coffee, too. I gave him his present, one of those remote controlled helicopter thingies (technical term), which didnt want to work. And, yes, my dh is atypical - he reads and follows all of the destructions. Well, we were going into town anyway, first of all to deliver Mr. Beaky, and then to engage in one of our fave shared pastimes, garage saleing. Brian thought perhaps the chopter might be needing fresher batteries and I said I needed to do some shopping, so we bought batteries and he tried it out whilst I shopped. Still no joy. Now, I had thought I packed everything for its return journey to Dick Smiths. No. I did not have the always vital receipt. The nice young man looked up the sale and Brian was able to exchange his bludging boo-boo for one that works. Happy days! In the middle of all of this, we met Alice. This was such a nice surprise for Brian, who had assumed that the Lemon Mint Lamb Chops for tonight were not going to be shared! Sorry, Dearest! lol I also bought a couple of el cheapo electronic mouse pads (who knew?!) that were marked down to only $6 in Woolies. Theyre brilliant! I had a problem with both my laptop and mouse pad. The laptop did not have enough ports (affix proper techie term here, Im 55!), for the various essential add-ons I have, all at once. Things like the great flexible light that I bought from The Reject Shop, headphones for listening to stuff online and not disturbing Brian, and my little electronic mouse itself. Plus, my old pad, being white, is no longer so and looking decidedly scruffy. I dont believe even a destitute mouse would use it for its pad, given half a choice. Then, of course, we had the joy of meeting friends in and around Ham., such as Macca, Helen and June, all so chuffed to see Brian. June had made up a special rhubarb treat for Brian, including a tub of ice cream, and told Brian that as it was HIS birthday, he does not have to share. All yours, Darling! I was pleased to spot another dachshund at Aldis. A very opinionated lady, a mini tan short-hair. Older male owner very proud of his one man dog. Such a cutie! The dog, I hasten to add, not the man. The weather has cooled. Praise God! The poor, unloved dachshunds are snoozing on the couch. The man is snoozing in the bedroom. And tonight, Alice and Tara are coming to dinner. How good is Life! Thankyou, God.
