Well, it’s funny I mentioned Jewscopalianism yesterday, because a little later at Episcopal Church of the Ascension we did “Shalom My Friends”, which I hadn’t encountered before (hymnary.org/text/shalom_my_friends_shalom_hustad). And I admit I laughed when some people pronounced chaverim with a “sh” instead of a “kh” (or how do you transliterate ch as in challah?). We also did “I Danced In The Morning”, which took me back to watching David Coffin lead it at the Christmas Revels when I was a temp usher through Randstad (hymnary.org/text/i_danced_in_the_morning_when_the). And we did “I Am the Bread of Life / Yo Soy el Pan de Vida” – which is awkward in a few ways, but I love the refrain; “And I will rai-aise them up! And I will rai-aise them up! And I will ra-aise them u-up on the la-ast day!” (hymnary.org/text/i_am_the_bread_of_life_they_who_come_to).
