Well it’s with great relief that I can say…medically Joce is clearly out of the woods now!!! What a wonderful thing to communicate. In brief review: - Sept 1 came into the hospital with 3 infections and was placed on a ventilator - Sept 10 the ventilator came out - Sept 15 she was moved out of intensive care Today Sept 18 her main medical concern is her throat and bed sores. Her throat remains so sore that she has difficulty swallowing, talking and also eating. I’m a bit surprised they are not more aggressively addressing the throat, but an Ear/Nose/Throat MD is suppose to check her out soon, maybe they will have suggestions. Now that Joce is doing quite well medically we/they are beginning to work with her more physically. Yesterday for the first time she “stood” by her bed for only 30 seconds, today it was 60 seconds and this was accomplished only with significant assistance from physical therapy people. So as you can see she has a very long physical recovery road ahead of her! But we are so very pleased with the medical progress she has made and we are confident that God will help her to recover physically, just as He has done such a great job medically. No mention has yet been made as to when she might leave the hospital. But what we do know is that when she leaves the hospital she will then transition to a Skilled Care facility where the concentration will be on her physical recovery (Physical therapy). You have been wonderful beyond words in the prayers, thoughts and understanding during this life-threading time. Words cannot begin to express my gratitude and what this has truly meant to me over these past 18 days! If I could I would, with honor, give each of you a heartfelt hug. Through these 18 days I have provided basically daily updates. However, now I will end this frequency and instead provide updates on a weekly or bi-weekly basis just to keep you generally informed on Joce’s recovery. Since I know you are interested. Again, from the bottom of my heart and with tears of appreciation clouding my eyes…let me say “THANKS” so very much!!! With deepest sincerity, Dennis
