Well last Sunday was interesting to say the least. I recently got back into the fitness thing by purchasing a road bike. I decided that since I found the fun in racing/riding again, that is was time to focus on the 2nd half of the race season. The MHSC race in Newark started with a dead last start, followed by blowing my rear master cylinder on the 1st lap of the race. I pitted taking on gas, and tried to fill the rear brake reservoir with fresh fluid, but after returning to the course my brakes lasted for two turns and vanished once again. By this time I had really lost time and fell way behind. I decided to ride hard despite losing my brakes and just put my head down and focused. The result was a great finish for the circumstances with a 4th overall! Now to the bad news. After the race I went back to work Tuesday and finished off the day by falling backwards from a ladder on to a concrete slab resulting in two broken wrists(one of which was completely crushed) . I am bummed to say the least! Unfortunately it looks like after making the decision to keep pushing for what I love to do on two wheels, I will be forced to basically hang it up. Its not a decision that comes lightly, and its actually weighing pretty heavy on me at this time. To everyone who asked me when I was going to quit this sport because of the danger, well I guess everyday life has stepped in to answer that question. Its just ironic that Work Life is what has decided to prove to be the most dangerous activity of all. Do what you love as long as you can because even when the days are bad doing it, you will look back at them as some of the best. Thanks to everyone who has been behind me over the years to lend a hand, or support me at what I love doing. It has meant more than any of you know!
