Well my first day of my trip has gone tits up after starting so well! My mum drove me to Birmingham airport, in good time. We have a cooked breakfast and a coffee while we waited. Leaving my mum and saying bye to her at the departure was rough! Almost got choked up but held it together, waving as walked away. The flight to Dublin felt like 5 minutes. I had a little bit of time to look around the shops but before I knew it I was in the Que. waiting to board my flight to Boston! I was feeling great at this pink Im next in line to go through the American customs. Im called up to the desk. I hand in my tickets and passport. Im asked when how long my stay is and how much money Im taking. I then tell the officer the I have a one way flight. The officer then tells me I need to speak with another officer and takes me into a back room and told to wait, amongst a few other nervous passengers. Im now called up to another desk. Im asked what the purpose of my stay is. I reply pleasure. The officer then tells me there is absolutely no way Ill be going to the states as I only have a one way flight and there was no way of knowing if was going to out stay my welcome. He then calls an air hostess over and tells her to sort me out a flight. I panic, heart sank I could have projectile vomited everywhere as the officer gave me no chance to reason or ask if I could bye a return flight then and there!? He then says if I can arrange a flight back from the states Im welcome to go. Im relieved but unsure if can afford a return never mind rearranging the flight that Ive just missed! Luckily the staff at Aer Lingus were unbelievably helpful! They helped retrieve my luggage and help me rearrange my flights for tomorrow and a return flight in December for a fairly good price. Im now booked into a travel lodge! Its been a long and expensive day. However Im now washed, relaxed and starving so Im off to to get me some grub and a pint of Guinness.
