Well now we’re up to our Long Distance Dedication. It’s a letter Casey read on the air, the weekend of June 24th 2007. It’s from a young man named Justin who wants to say thank you to one special teacher who made the biggest impact on his life. Here’s what Justin writes: Dear Casey, By anyones standards, I did not have the best time growing up. My father was abusive, and my mother suffered from depression. So throughout elementary school, many of the school workers kept an eye on me. There was one in particular though that went the extra mile. Ms. Barton always brought me cookies during lunchtime and even interrupted my class one time to give me a birthday present. She was always very kind to me, gave me hugs(something I didnt get at home). But when I moved onto middle school, we started to lose touch. I saw her once during that time and learned that she had married. I haven’t seen her since then, and I dont know her married name. Casey, could you please play Youre the Inspiration for me? If youre listening Ms. Barton, I want you to know that you have been a real inspiration in my life, and I will never forget you. Im studying to become a teacher with the hope that I may be able to change someone elses life the way youve changed mine. Thank you.
