Well, preop went better than expected! Riley had an EKG done first - TopicsExpress

Well, preop went better than expected! Riley had an EKG done first and she laid there like a big girl! We met with Anesthesia then her Surgeons PA to go over a few things and sign consent forms for surgery tomorrow. We then went and had chest X-rays done which she screamed durning but did so good. Next was blood work and she was a champ only cried when they stuck her and took the needle out. She sucked on her pi and looked around while waiting and got a prize afterwards. We went to eat at a pizza place for lunch and this man walked up and asked how old she was. I told him and he asked about something and I told him that we were from Virginia and he asked what brought us to Charlotte...as I proceeded to telling him about Rileys surgery he told me his niece had heart surgery few months back, asked if she was going to be ok and I told him it was critical to keep her from getting sick between the 2 surgerys and here we are he smiled and said she was a pretty baby and that hed be thinking about us tomorrow. We went about our lunches and as him and his colleague were getting ready to leave he tapped Quinton on the shoulder and told him to take care of that pretty little girl and placed money on our table. We both told him we appreciated it but he didnt need to do that and he turned around and said I am doing it because I can, smiled and walked away. His colleague stopped after him and said hed be thinking of her and us as well and wished us the best of luck. We asked him for the guys name and number so we could let him know how Riley did. He made me cry in the middle of the restaurant. You never know what someone has been through or going through and it is people like that man who make you have the ability to stay strong and keep fighting. He has a big heart and we will be telling Riley this story one day when she gets old enough to understand. God works in mysterious ways and we know he will be with Riley tomorrow while she is in surgery and will guide her surgeons hands as well as his teams to make her heart better one surgery at a time. Please pray for a smooth surgery, the hands that will touch her, medicine given and the strength to fight through this 6 hour surgery. Also please keep her mommy and daddy in your thoughts and prayers for strength and patience. Tomorrow will be the second longest day of our lives and any words of encouragement are greatly appreciated! Will give brief updates when we can throughout tomorrow. ❤
