Well somebody took it upon themselves to dump the garbage out of their truck bed behind a log down by the bridge! We havent had the huge problem with this that I was afraid that we would but it is still very frustrating!! No real identifying information other than an envelope with the return address of Muscatine County Treasurer, probably the envelope from the persons registration! This is a first for this summer as we havent seen any dumping since way back in April when there was still snow on the ground but it will not be tolerated nonetheless! The Sheriffs Office has been contacted and they will continue to keep a file on this...the deputy that I talked to said they consider environmental dumping to be a heinous crime and it makes them very angry! Unfortunately they have a hard time catching people but do keep track of it so when they do catch them they can be punished to the fullest extent of the law! This is pretty ridiculous as the amount of garbage that it is could have been thrown away in a regular trash can anywhere! Do NOT do this as the public outing and punishment will not be pretty! On a more happy note the neighbors say that this has been one of the best summers ever down at the river as there has not been any dumping or disturbance nor trouble making & problems...just a clean and peaceful pleasant place to be out in nature :-) They told us that our presence here has made it a better place for EVERYONE!! :-) How nice is that?! Glad were making a difference and thanks to all for your support as we continue to move forward... your bridge is in good hands and were looking out for the best interest of the entire community! If you hear of anyone that is planning on doing something stupid out in the area let them know that were all paying attention, its not OK and you WILL get caught!
