Well, technically a Sunday off, but can never stay away from church. Attended Mex City Cathedrals Solemn Mass (Bishop of Mexico present but not Celebrant, not sure why) The organist, by COMPLETE coincidence, saw me walking around from the choir gallery and recognized me from days before when he let me play the organs. He emerged out of the choir (I was sitting right outside the choir entrance, of course) and invited me up to assist him at Mass. He said...Im alone today and could use a registrant (divided keyboard at C# makes for some exciting registration changes..) At the end of mass asked if I wanted to play the closing voluntary. Uh, yeah. Gabrieli Canzona starts NOW. For those that know the instruments..this was on the 1734 Nassarre organ across from its Spanish twin instrument. I even knocked down an A pedal stump for the final cadence. Other highlight was hearing a full bell peal at the elevations. #timeforabeer
