Well the old wood stove has been talking today and she says she has more to say tonight on her spot on FB--Wood Stove Wit and Wisdom. Check out her site. She says she is going to talk about “brain teasers” for kids on the 4th of July. She may give you an idea or two. But she says she is too busy talking and so dinner? We are on our own and so it is the gas grill and picnic time at the farm. What a day at the farm. The sky is clear and not a leave stirs in the warm summer air. The smoke curls from the gas grill. We are cooking chicken breasts marinated in a teriyaki sauce, and grilling sweet corn in the husk. Oh how I love that and it will be served with a compound lemon basil butter. Add a side of potato salad and a relish tray of French breakfast radishes and green spring onions from the garden with a blue cheese dip and there you have it. No dessert tonight, but a simple country meal near sunset. The dragon flies are dancing around the picnic table. They eat 1,500 mosquitoes a day and so are a welcome addition. Did you know in prehistoric times the dragon flies had a wing span of over 4 feet--what magnificent huge biplanes they must have been. I wonder if the fireflies will come out tonight. We have not seen any yet this year. Have you?
