Well, today I had my police experience....happily all went well. I - TopicsExpress

Well, today I had my police experience....happily all went well. I had just finished an automobile dealership audit in Franklinton, NC and stopped at a Hess station to get gas. I got a bag of chips paid for the gas and started back to my car when I noticed that there were 2 police cars, one at the rear and the other at the front on my car and 3 of the officers approached me and ask if I had a box. They said that they received a report that a man in a Cadillac had a suspicious box and pulled into the gas station. I assured them that it was not me. I told them to look in my car if they wished, and I popped open my trunk. Fortunately one of the other officers saw another older Caddie in the car wash next door, so they left and directed their attention on the other car. So, my point is the these officers were very polite in doing their job and I commend them, because I know that the overwhelming majority of police officers are good cops and deserve our support and respect. On the other hand there are those officers that over extend their authority and are abusive and they should not be entrusted to police the community. The sad case of the officers killed in New York should have never taken place. By contrast the killing of Eric Garner, Michael Brown and others was just as unnecessary. I feel that those good officers need to police the own, and in doing so the respect of the community will be there to support them. There has to be an acknowledgement that in all communities there are some bad people as well as some bad police but justice must be equal.
