Well, today was quite busy. We spent about 17 hours (3) building a feeding station for the goats so we could get rid of the pea/shell, fruit basket turnover saga every time we fed. We had to shut the goats out of their house because they offered way too much help. Meg jumped in the wheelbarrow full of supplies and tried to empty it. Glenn Miller tried to help us cut chain with his teeth. Chloe, Sophie, and Zorro just got as much underfoot as possible. They were not happy at all with being shut out. They screamed and cried and beat on the doors. We had to let a few of them in, one at the time, to measure the correct height of the feeding bins. We had Glenn Miller in and he measured correctly. Sissy said he was the tallest and that we needed a short goat. At that exact moment, Chloe came flying over the bottom half of the dutch door. We knew she could jump, but not that high. Scared us all. They were all shoved outside again and kept up the shouts of disapproval. Sissy finally went and sat on the hay bales. They climbed all over her, but finally lay down and chewed their cuds after she sang about 45 verses of The Lonely Goat Herder. I think they hushed in self defense. Every day brings new excitement. Anyway, the feeding stations worked quite well and feeding time went so smoothly tonight. Thank goodness. Tomorrow we are off to look at a possible watch dog for our small herd. Will let you know how it turns out. We are excited.
