Well, today, we got a fairly early start... weve got tomato and pepper plants started, and need to get them into the garden sometime, BUT, in our old house, before the fire, we were about 90 from our garden, and had an electric fence from our house to the garden, to keep the deer from eating every thing we planted... since the fire, our new house is 100 yds. further away, or more from our old house. SO, what to do? Well, from our old house, to the area where our new house is, since, when our new house area was the Chicken Mansion, I had run underground wires to provide electricity to the Chicken Mansion, those wires are still there... SO, weve determined which one of those wires, which run underground, wed like to make into a load for the Electric Fence to keep deer out of our garden... the wires are there... just a matter of getting the HOT wire down there, and then to the garden... ALL of them run underground, so theres not a problem with having them in the way of our driveway, now. SO, we bought 2- 4X4 treated posts, one to put at the end of the wire, close to where the old house was, and another to put between two trees that were between there and the garden, and run wires from there. First thing off this morning, I worked myself into a frazzle, trying to dig a hole for the first post.... :-( Let me say, at my age, and out of shape as I am, a frazzle isnt very far down the stretch... Ive been doing construction work on building the house, but, thats NOT like trying to dig postholes in the ground, and prying out ROCKS, which in Rock-In-SAW [Arkansas] are VERY present,,,, THANKFULLY, Brian, our son, came over and rescued us... Got the holes dug for the two 4X4 posts... then he drove in all the T-posts for the electric fence posts around our garden... not going to have much of a garden this year... just some tomato and pepper plants, and maybe a little okra....still having to do building on the house, but DO like to have fresh food from a garden. :-) Had no garden last year, at all... SPRING has sprung, and in spring a young mans thoughts turn to.... and an older mans thoughts turn to gardening... Im guessing.... ;-)
