Well, we are 8 1/2 weeks into the Stroke Journey with my dad. Last week, after 6 days in Providence Hospital in Columbia, he was transferred to the Karesh Wing of Kershaw Medical Center in Camden. It was truly a blessing for all of us when they had a bed for him there! It is a wonderful facility with a great, caring, friendly staff. His therapy is progressing. As Daddy put it yesterday, today my speech is good, tomorrow maybe not so good. With the assistance of 2 PTs he walked the hall this week & also walked with a walker. He still doesnt have good control of the right foot but its getting better. The arm exercises are helping the right arm as well. The highlight of my week last week (other than spending time with Luke, of course!): I was loading my car to go out on the mail route last Wednesday when my phone rang. Checking the phone to see who it was, it read Pop. Since he was still in Columbia at the time, I almost panicked. When I said hello, the voice said, got much mail today? I was so stunned to hear that used-to-be-daily greeting that I was speechless! It took me so long to catch my breath, he asked me again. Such a simple question but such a powerful one for me to hear. Thank you all for the prayers, cards, and well wishes! By the grace of The Lord, Daddy is recovering & improving every day...
