Well, we did it! 23 folks, including a little girl on a scooter, marched 12 miles. The weather was great as the miles slowly went by. As those miles passed by, the Marchers spread out as some folks marched faster than others. This gave some time for reflection on just why we were doing this. I tried to imagine those brave soldiers as they marched towards an uncertain destination. As I nurse sore feet and legs today, I will think about the fact that the 35th NC may have been marching again today. Ive never carried a musket for 12 miles before, but I did it yesterday to get an idea of just how it felt. The members of SCV Camp 379 are so thankful to those who donated their money to this project! Without Yall, this would just have been a long walk. Yall gave it life and purpose. We are still accepting donations if you wish to help us out. Rest assured, your donation will go to Flag Preservation! Plans are already in the works to continue our efforts...when this flag is paid for, we will select another flag to raise funds to preserve. Our work will continue!
