Well we have had an eventful day to say the least. Bradys - TopicsExpress

Well we have had an eventful day to say the least. Bradys Pericardial sac was drained of fluid on Saturday. It was a large amount. We thought we would be moved to the bone marrow transplant floor today. But once they got the results of his Echo and X-ray this morning, they saw that it had considerably more fluid than yesterday. Instead of draining it again they decided to do a surgery to make a window in the sac so that it would drain itself and not cause pressure on the heart, which could be very dangerous. Brady was transported to another Childrens Hospital in Memphis. About 5 minutes from St. Jude. His surgery went really well. It was a fairly standard surgery with low risks. They said they removed in between 300-350 ML. That was a LOT of fluid for such a little guy. It was important they did this today. He had a hard day with no food or water. Also he hasnt been feeling well due to some abnormal breathing patterns. But he did great from the surgery and Im sure he will start to feel much better after all that fluid was removed. He is finally able to have water which he is VERY happy about! We hope to go back to St. Jude tomorrow afternoon. We still dont know exactly where the fluid coming from or whats causing it. They have some guesses but are waiting for test results. It was more important to get the fluid out before they know exactly where it came from. We are missing Brent today. It was hard for him to leave while Brady was in the hospital. Charlee had a great day with Nana, Aunt Kim and cousin Olivia. Im thankful she is doing well and doesnt have many appointments this week so I can focus on Brady.
