Well we made it! A very hot day here in Rome. We took the tram to Via Venezzia and then walked to Vatican City but began to panic somewhat when we realised it would take longer than we thought to reach the ticket office. We made it and the online booking system served us well. Along with masses of people we began the tour which so many of you will know so nothing further to say except I was struck by the magnificence of my surroundings. We think David Cameron has it all his own way but he has nothing on the Vatican boys. Very relaxed retaking pictures apart from in the Sistine Chapel but the Japanese in general ignored all the warnings and went on snapping anyway: cue WW3. An exhausting tour and then out into the blazing sun to queue again for Basilica St Pietro. When I saw the length of said queues I realised it would have to remain a mystery for me as my ankle had almost given up the ghost. Vic is shattered and fast asleep now!
