Well, what another great 2000AD Southern Contingent Gathering we had. My adventure started off as you know by me getting soaked by a car hitting a puddle but the excitement didnt end there, oh no! I wandered through the town, grabbed a few egg thingies from McDonalds and waited for the train to arrive. Luckily for me it was quite sunny, so my jeans dried out before I climbed aboard. I sat down and as the train pulled out, started to read Fridays Metro and eat my grub. A few minutes later the tannoy sounded and the conductor asked for any medically trained person or a member of the armed forces to come to the rear carriage. I looked at my sad effort of food and thought I better go, as I would hope someone would do the same if someone I knew needed help. I still have some knowledge bleeding, breathing, breaks and burns ;-) I rushed down and luckily it was a simple thing, someone was having a fit, so I held their head so they didnt hurt themsleves. Once it was over and the person was okay and thanked me, I went back to my seat. On arriving at Victoria it took ages to get off the platform, why, because the Orient Express was opposite and everyone decided that they wanted pictures taken with the numerous guards and staff. Anyway I managed to get to Forbidden Planet okay and meet a few of the contingent. Slowly more turned up and at 13:00, we went to the pub for drinks and chat. Every so often a few of the smokers would pop outside, so I joined them just for a change of scenery when Ivan turned up with a gift of a Dredd t-shirt for me (for some info that Id supplied him) and I was very thankful. All of a sudden, as if by magic, some feathered bastard decide to shit on my right shoulder. I then changed top and thanked Ivan again. Im sure he mustve just come from the future! Anyway, we were all upstairs drinking away and chatting and as the day went on people drifted away until five of us remained and went for some food and a place Id never heard of was chosen and it sounded tasty. While at Cabana Brasilian Barbecue we ordered starters and mains and just to end the days madness off, they served us the mains first followed by the starters but at least they gave us a round of drinks on the house for their mistake. After the food we all said our goodbyes and went on our separate ways home. I shall just thank everyone for coming, as its everyone that makes the gathering so enjoyable.
