Went out with kids for dinner in Birmingham tonight. Tried to go to a Wetherspoons of which there are several (not the height of sophistication but does the job). First one really hot and crowded, no table. Second one really loud music. Third one, along Broad Street, big, English pub atmosphere, nice round table free. BUT no kids allowed after 6 on a Friday night!!! Licensing laws as Friday night heavy drinking night! That would never happen in Spain! Ended up in Asian buffet, just in case you thought we never got fed!
