Went to the Ripy House yesterday for the first time since I was a baby when my grandma re-wallpapered the house. Stopped by during the senior session I was shooting, so we were short on time, but while we were there we got a little tour of the house and Janet Schell even went into the basement. Truth me told, I was too creeped out to go into the basement with only a lantern. Especially after watching the first season of American Horror Story just last week. The house was eerily similar to the murder house in the show. The man who led us around the house even told me about the stained glass in the house being made from a process that used asbestos and killed off nearly everyone who made the glass, which led to the style only lasting for a period of 10 years. Really neat to see inside a house Ive been curious about my whole life. They give free tours to the public on the weekends as they remodel and only ask for donations in return. Definitely plan on going back to see the servants quarters on the 3rd floor next time Im home.
