Were you or someone you know displaced by Hurricane Sandy? Are you still impacted by its effects? Superstorm Sandy Displaced Residents Tracking Survey The Monmouth University Polling Institute is embarking on a project involving New Jersey residents who have been heavily impacted by Superstorm Sandy, particularly those who continue to be displaced. The goal of this project in the short term is to keep the personal challenges facing displaced residents on the front burner of public awareness. Monmouth University will also look at ways to improve the flow of information and to help displaced residents stay in touch with their communities. Longer term goals of this project will seek to establish a “best practices” approach for maintaining communication channels for future events such as Sandy. The Polling Institute will be creating a web survey (among other tools) to survey these impacted residents, and to provide them with links to useful and important information and resources. If you, or anyone you know is or was displaced as a result of Sandy, please pass this information along to them. If you have any questions about the project, please contact Tim Tracey of the Monmouth University Polling Institute at 732-263-5672 or via email at [email protected] This project is designed to assist municipalities, long term recovery groups, and other organizations in maintaining positive communications with constituents who have been most adversely affected as a result of Sandy. As the specifics of the project are finalized, we will post the information to our website. Please note that privacy concerns for both residents and towns are extremely important. Any residents who wish to participate anonymously will be to do so, and residents who choose not to participate will still be given information and links to assist them in maintaining connections to their community. Our research is being funded by the New Jersey Recovery Fund Project, which is supported by the Community Foundation of New Jersey and the Dodge Foundation. What We Are Doing: The Fund is focused on bold, long-term solutions that promote economic vitality, healthy ecosystems, strong and engaged communities, government transparency and a fair distribution of recovery resources.
