Werk it Wednesday is back...halfway through another week! Any good fitness regimen will include a stretch day. Stretching can help you take care of your body while you work on your fitness so you dont jack yourself up I have really grown to enjoy yoga. Trust, I have not always liked it...because it is HARD and awkward when you are just starting out, plus it feels like youre not burning any calories and what is the point of that!!! Well I will tell you. Yoga helps to make you stronger and improves your balance. There is much more to it than just twisting up pretzel style...you need to be able to focus and hold yourself in these poses with correct form. When your balance and strength improves you will notice it in your other workouts. I definitely have in those smashy workouts I love to do. Its also helped improve my running. So dont write this stuff off! This is a bound side angle pose. You balance on one leg and lift the other by grabbing your big toe, extending it outward and then to the side. It will be hard to keep your legs straight at first but just do your best. Also try to keep your back straight and chest out. Take deep, slow breaths. It will not be pretty the first time you try it but thats the beauty of yoga...when your muscles become stronger and more limber, you can get into these positions! Yes, YOU! So try it out!
