We’d like to wish a Happy Birthday to the great Elvis Presley today (January 8th), on what would have been the King’s 80th year !!! In order to celebrate the milestone, Legacy Recordings have designated a yearlong anniversary of Elvis’ music, with some special releases that include Presley’s The Complete ’60s Albums Collection Vol. 1 (which has been released on iTunes). The compilation features all the LPs Elvis recorded from 1960-1965, with newly remastered digital sound. The ’60s collection contains the following : Elvis Is Back, G.I. Blues, His Hand In Mine, Something for Everybody, Blue Hawaii, Pot Luck, Girls! Girls! Girls!, It Happened at the World’s Fair, Elvis’ Golden Records Vol. 3, Fun in Acapulco, Kissin’ Cousins, Roustabout, Girl Happy, Elvis for Everyone, & Harum Scarum. In addition to the special releases, a new website called ElvisTheMusic, now features an extensive online database of Presley’s music and career that fans will enjoy checking out. Graceland will also livestream Elvis’ 80th birthday celebration at 10:15 am EST, where his former wife Priscilla Presley is scheduled to make an appearance. As a special tribute to the King on his 80th birthday, we wanted to share one of our favorite Elvis recordings, his iconic performance of Amazing Grace.
