We’re back tomorrow night with the fifth and final session- A Global Partnership for Development. Dont forget to register & check out wholl be speaking: Mat Thame is a Civil Engineer. His passion for development started in Indonesia, where he worked with Engineers Without Borders on the Tenganan Water supply project. He has also spent time in the Solomon Islands working with the Ministry of Development Planning and Aid Coordination. Dr Graham Forward is the orthopaedic surgeon who founded Australian Doctors For Africa, an organisation that aims not only to provide medical supplies and undertake surgical procedures in places like Madagascar and Somalia, but to upskill those communities, assess the future training needs of local staff and disseminate best practice in healthcare. “A Global Partnership for Development” is all about bringing together different people with different skills; cooperating to improve lives via sustainable outcomes and a sense of shared humanity (i.e. more than cruising on in to developing countries armed with a saviour complex and a pre-formed idea of what we’d like to give). Come and hear from two speakers who have firsthand experience working with communities on the ground, building functional partnerships for development!
