What. A. Day. Thank you to each and every one of you who planned, baked and came out to help with yesterday’s Scooters Squad fundraiser. Despite the obvious challenges & municipal misshaps that left us without water (making it a non-car wash & bake sale), it was a HUGELY successful day in many ways: · Tris who went home with a lovely family who just happened upon our non-car wash, fell in love and made her theirs. Our second official Scooter’s Squad adoption success story. · As for numbers, we are completely BLOWN AWAY. Our first official Scooter’s Squad Non-Car Wash and Bake Sale Fundraiser netted $1,706.25. People’s generosity was overwhelming. One woman purchased a few baked goods & gave us $200 in return. we’ve never seen so many anonymous large donations placed in our donation jug. And there’s only more to come as we will be selling our left over baked goods at the shelter until they are gone. I want to thank everyone for all of your hard work – especially Scooter’s Squad team members Ken & Jen Martin and Emilie Berg who did the lion’s share of the event planning, coordination & sign making. Many thanks to those who tried to help us move mountains in the hopes of bringing water to the event taking & placing calls into the wee hours including Emilie, Ken, Pam, Marie & Loni. Alas the water didn’t flow, but it certainly wasn’t for a lack of trying. All those who were flexible and helped us handle dogs, set up & hold signs when reassigned. To our friends at Howard Productions who kept our spirits up and kept us moving despite the logistical disappointments. And of course to all those to baked us to an amazingly successful first event. We are in awe of the dedication of our volunteers and the level to which you all pour time and energy into helping our shelter animals. They, and we, are truly lucky to have you in our corner.
