What I am about to write is not intended to start a debate about year round vs. traditional schools. I have worked in both so I am well aware of the pros and cons. Instead, I want to write about my personal angst at starting the school year tomorrow, July 7. I am, and always will be, a summer girl. Sunshine, pools, flip flops, sand and surf...thats what my mind and body crave from June -August. Being trapped inside a building on hot summer days is a mentally painful experience for me. Plus my kids are home for the summer (this will come to end way too soon) and I want to be with them. Please do not assume that I am not grateful to have a job because I am. I will show up tomorrow and give it all my best, but it wont be easy. This is a yearly melancholy that will end when fall rolls around. You know, that time of year when school is supposed to start. #thestruggleisreal
