What I learned about Kpop in 2014 is... What happens when - TopicsExpress

What I learned about Kpop in 2014 is... What happens when companies get into scandals with their groups? Most companies will treat their groups and artists like shit. Take B.A.P for example, TS Entertainment had their dirty laundry exposed but went forward asap with Sonamoos debut. For the sake of money these girls were thrown into controversy, why? Controversy creates cash. Currently Sonamoo MVs are at 101k and 125k which means at the very least theyve made $200 off youtube ads. People will support Sonamoo from the hate they receive and they will constantly be talked about. The more hate Sonamoo gets, the more support and fans will come to their aid. Sounds familiar? With rookie debuts, this looks like a well proven tactic. Recent examples, A.Kor and Red Velvet. A.Kor for Kemys Park Bom diss and Red Velvet for the F(x) mishap. All it takes is to ruffle a few feathers and fanwars come out. Who wins at the end? The companies and those groups. Ignorance can be feigned and appropriations of culture can happen repeatedly and fans will fight for and against it. At the end, the cycle is rinse and repeat. Zicos Tough Cookie, colorism remarks by idol groups, treating groups like shit and debuting a new group directly. Kpop acts have expiration dates and some companies are treating idols like disposal toys. Theyve already squeezed as much money as possible. At the end of it, it begins and ends with us fans. Damned if you do and damned if you dont. You dont know which group is the next walking time bomb. You dont know when it could be your favorites last moment so we support until then. Eventually we move on to another group. Rinse and repeat with scandals ensuring. This is what I learned and confirmed the most about kpop in 2014. More in a video later on.
