What I will remember most about Greg Dimitriadis is that it was always about the work--and never the ego. Met Greg in the fall of 1993, as we both entered the graduate program in American Studies at the University of Buffalo, he as a MA student, me as a Ph.D. student, we both working then with the late Larry Chisolm and Charlie Keil. Still remember us hitting Talking Leaves Books the day that Tricia Roses Black Noise arrived. Greg moved on to the University of Illinois for his Ph.D. coming out the other side as one of the founding voices in what we now understand as Hip-Hop Pedagogy. He returned to the University of Buffalo to teach and later as an Associate Dean. Though Greg will be missed, the work lives on in the scholarship of folk like Bettina Love, Joycelyn Wilson, Marc Lamont Hill and so many more. Well done, friend, well done.
