What? Wow. I heard a little about this video of John Morgan giving a speech in favor of legalizing medical marijuana in Florida (he is at the Lakeland county bar Boots and Buckles), but had not seen it until this morning. Embarrassing. In his more clear headed moments (none of which happen in this video) he claims it is out of compassion - hmm - not the impression he gives here and not the mindset of the children listening to him. To top it off, he actually does a personal injury lawsuit promotion for his law firm about 4 1/2 mins in. The man has some problems. As for the amendment - I will be voting no because 1) amendments are NOT the way to make laws (we have a legislative body in Tallahassee for that); 2) I object to the mendacity behind the thing. The people pushing this are doing so for the money or because they just want legal pot, not for compassion. The wording is such that there really is no limit on who can get a script for pot. It can be given (by a doctor) for for debilitating medical conditions like cancer OR or other conditions for which a physician believes that the medical use of marijuana would likely outweigh the potential health risks for a patient. 3) I lean libertarian so should favor the freedom to get high if thats the way you roll, but . . . see #1.
