What a dear man he was! He shared his talents in his later years - TopicsExpress

What a dear man he was! He shared his talents in his later years with young musicians, true to his very strong spiritual convictions. I met him at the first ASCAP Songwriters Convention and sang him one of my tunes. He was the first person through that weekend that really waxed enthusiastic. The other promoters there were more into other contemporary styles and frowned on American Songbook style writing. One of them chuckled and said that that style was for old people. Well, if it is, there sure are a lot of us around. Mr. Bellson had his wife take a photo of us. I had been suffering from Bells Palsy (got it just in time for the convention and was looking like Quasimoto behind my dark glasses.) His wife had me pose at a better angle but I still call the photo, Bellson and Bells Palsy. I have the photo somewhere and if I can figure out how to post it, I will. In any case, I promised Mr. Bellson that I would get my songs out. Its 10 (11?) years later, but better late than never.
