What a dilemma for me! ************************* Being an Indian Muslim, with a deep sense of ego, dignity and sensitivity, I consider it the greatest sin to keep silent on what is happening, and how abjectly my community has been enslaved in the name of secularism, and how brazenly our votes are being sought under the fear of fascism. Though having nothing at my command to change the status quo, but my Allah has given me a little vision, a meager capacity to think and write, so at least I ponder over the means as how to wriggle out of the present status. But the great dilemma that I face is, that when I speak truth about the problems of Muslims , I am called ‘communal’ by fascist elements, but when I criticize the present despicable situation, and try to give a positive direction to my community, I am branded by some of my own as ‘ a friend of Modi and fascist forces’. In such a situation, what brings to my mind is the famous couplet of Dr. Allama Iqbal. “ Azaan dee meiney but-kadon mein, Ke Khuda kaa naam ho buton mein, Magar dekhaa jo ‘Mulla’ kaa daftar, To paayaa ke ‘Iqbal’ hei ‘kaafiron mein.” Anyhow, I am satisfied that my Guardian Lord has given me the courage of conviction, and before writing anything, I always invoke His Mercy, and pray to Him to show me the path of righteousness, and make me steadfast thereon.
