What a disingenuous piece! Even the headline is indecisive. Wouldn’t it be nice if many of the students that come to Cleveland for their education remained here to create 21st century businesses & help revitalize a city with an abundance of buildable land, fresh water, and good proximity to much of North America’s population? While other parts of this country & world are growing rapidly, Cleveland remains stuck in its early 20th century past & in love with its own mediocrity. This region has to stop settling for third, fourth or last place. I take it back. This region is number one is employment and population losses. We successfully beat the Jersey Shore even though they had an advantage over us: Hurricane Sandy. This dated attitude of a belligerent regionalism keeps this region stuck in yesterday. We still have brownfields dotting our landscape, many left over from World War II. Look at Boston, Pittsburgh & other cities that have reinvented, re-educated, and continue to plan for their futures in the 21st century. When one blindly boosts this region & says Cleveland is a best- kept secret, I cringe - because they are right.
