Robbi completely polarizing the judges with the opus that is “Pander-Monium”, including getting a pair of 10s? Check. Shrimp and octopus ceviche with Mexican coke at Taco Bus? LIKE A BAWSH. Getting hit on by the cute server? Check. Making a complete ass of myself by making confused faces when the server began speaking to me in Spanish? Check.* Winning the slam despite customary third round time penalty? Check. Shane meeting his quota to hear at least one Trayvon reference? Check. Free notebook journals from Sharon for the Orlando squad? Check. Winning the slam with all love poems, including a brand-new, never-before-shared-aloud-on-any-stage poem in the third round read off my phone and written the night before? Check. AND the DJ played “Ghetto Musick” by OutKast? It’s not bars over jokes or jokes over bars. It’s #LovePoemsOverEverything. #ZsInsideMyZs *** * I’m half-White / half-Indian – dot, not feather. Because of my olive complexion, I sometimes get mistaken as quote, “Cuban or something.” Funnier still, because nationally I identify as Canadian with Resident Alien status in The States, and of course, The Great White North is the polar opposite of The Carribean.
