What a load of shit! According to an Asia NZ Foundation survey, Maori views on Asian immigration have deteriorated in the past year. While most New Zealanders increasingly saw the benefit of Asian immigrants, 44 per cent of Maori believed New Zealanders were more negative towards people from Asia compared with a year ago. The way the question was asked is the fatal flaw in this argument. You can see what I mean in the response below. 44 per cent of Maori believed New Zealanders were more negative towards people from Asia... Did you spot it? Maori dont see themselves as New Zealanders (first) they see themselves as Maori. Conclusion (obviously mine) Maori think New Zealanders are a lot more negative towards Asians than they were last year. What really astounded me were the comments from Te Ureroa Flavell trying to justify this fatally flawed survey and assuming that the result was correct. It shows just how naive he really is...
