What a match!!! what a day of cricket we have witnessed in our tournament!!!! 2 matches (semis final and finals )were played but it had only one thing in common and that was Ernakulam samaj winning both the matches including the final and lifting the Stallions trophy. Congratulations to Ernakulam Samaj!!!!! Well played!!!!! First it was the semi final match between the Ekm Samaj and Sarvajanik Samaj. Sarvajanik Samaj won the toss and elected to bowl. They had a pretty good start. Ekm samaj came back in the match in the last 3 overs and scored 103 runs in 10 overs. It was a challenging total for the Sarvajanik samaj and they had the pressure of semifinal behind them. Sarvajanik samaj altered their batting line up and sent Yogesh Sharma and Jiger to open the innings. Ekm samaj were rewarded with the wicket of Yogesh in the first over and that lifted their spirits. Jallu came the next to the crease and he with Jiger were building a good partnership and moving forward towards the total. Jigar Shah was run out and Jaldeep Patel was out the next ball. It brought more pressure on the batting side and the lower order could not manage to achieve the total. The last 2 overs became more difficult and Sarvajanik samaj lost their way. Now comes the big one!!!!! Whole crowd was waiting for the finals. It was Dassa Samaj vs Ekm samaj. Dassa Samaj as expected to be the favorites for the match of the two won the toss and decided to bowl first. Ernakulam Samaj were high on team spirit after their spectacular win against Sarvajanik Samaj. It was a humdinger of a match!!!!! Ernakulam samaj scored 106 runs in their 12 overs against a tough line up. Mehul Patel who was always considered as as super talent for the Ekm smaj clicked on the right day and scored 60 plus runs in the finals with 6 towering sixes. Before this match Dassa Samaj had restricted all their opponents below 50 in the three matched they played, but today it was a Mehul show in the final. With 106 to win, Dassa still considered as favorites came to bat and started well with scoring 9 runs of the first over. At the end of 2nd over they were 26 for no loss. After 2 overs Ekm strike back and Chirag Madani was out. Ernakulam samaj regrouped themselves and put up a tough fight against Dassa samaj. Last 5 overs remaining and Dassa samaj needed 42 to win. With 6 wickets in hand Dassa Samaj were looking strong. They were rotating strike and making sure that the run rate did not fall beyond their reach. 2 overs 18 to win and Mehul Comes to bowl. He takes 2 wickets and gives away nine runs. Last over 9 to win and 4 wickets in hand. Mr. Prakash was handed over the responsibility of bowling the last over. With 4 wickets in hand people would have still put their money on the batting side to win the finals, but as the quote says EXPECT THE UNEXPECTED Mr. Praksh out of no where delivered a maiden over and made sure he took all the 4 wickets including a Hatrick. Hats off to you sir.Well bowled. Ernakulam Samaj winning the match and also the trophy. Well played. Hard Luck to Dassa samaj who displayed superb show of cricket through out the tournament. Special thanks to our volunteers including both the juniors and the seniors who were always ready to help us and provide us with ideas to execute the plans. Thanks to the umpires for providing us with their precious time and standing in hot sun through out the match and how can i forget the lovely crowd that we had through out the tournament. You people rocked!!! always supportive and cheered all way through out the tournament. With this, we THE STALLIONS come to the end of our first tournament but not our last :).
