What a terrific week at the Cape To Cape Mtb stage race! Such an amazing race with so many riders. It is a new chapter for the team with a new team naming partner in Merida bikes Australia. It has been a really great way to kick of the season with some super strong performances so early on. And what a battle it has been for all the guys fighting it out for the yellow leaders jersey this week! Thankfully for us, our tactics paid off & our very own T-pac took out the overall victory in GC. From my point of view, watching this young man develop into the rider he is today has been truly amazing. The overall GC victory seriously couldnt have gone to a more deserving guy, he has worked so hard for so many years for this. Young Hamo was 3rd overall- wow he has such a talent it scares me & has so much to offer the sport! Hamo knows how to put everyone around him in the hurt box, thats for sure! Unfortunately it was Forbsys last race with us & he finished 8th overall. He really will be sadly missed, not just because he is an amazing talent, but also because hes an amazing guy, full of antics keeping us on our toes. Em Parkes ( this lady can ride a bike) what an amazing week after flying in from Europe she really did finish on a high. Such a great young lady & a massive part of the torq family. She smashed the red bull shootout, backed it up the following day winning the single track stage & finished second in the final stage today in a stage that really didnt suit her- taking out 3rd overall on GC.
