What a year it has been....2014 for me could be seen as a year of simcha: my sister and best friends had their weddings; my dear friends had babies, and my nephew had his upsharin. This year has also been bitter: special people in our lives, like my grandmother, have passed away in peaceful ways BH; This year 2014 was the year I lost my last grandparent. However, lhavdel this was the year my sister got married! and my oldest and loving sister had a third child (Miri) and brought the minhag of an upsharin into the family. I learned a lot about where I come from. I have no shame, but pride. I was brought up surrounded by my parents friends who shower chessed on one another in joyous times, bitter times, and definite hardships. This year was very tough on Israel. My brother is being so dedicated in raising tzedaka for a young woman and her baby, who live in Israel. Chanukah was already a few weeks ago. It is an 8 day holiday, but I believe it was a symbol of this year. Being able to see the good in G-D through the kidnapping of those beloved boys. Jews saying Tehillim in shul for their quick return. Seeing the strength in their mothers...Jews around the world reciting Shema for peace for israel. Anti-Semitism in Ukraine...Europe, and in America-in Chicago! I have known it was around but to hear about hate in the community I live in... I am praying only good will be in 2015
