What about Purgatory? Posted on October 6, 2013 by Jim Hughes What is Purgatory? It is a doctrine taught by other religions. Is there really such a thing as purgatory? Is there any dead waiting in purgatory to go to heaven or hell? Will there be any second chances after you die and go on from this life? The Bible is real clear on these teachings. 2 Corinthians 5:8 (KJV) We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord. The Bible tells us that if we believers are not here on earth then we can be confident we are with the Lord Jesus Christ. If believers are not with the Lord then they are on this earth in the body of flesh. 2 Corinthians 5:6-7 (KJV) Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord: 7 (For we walk by faith, not by sight:) The Apostle Paul was so confident of this that when it came time for him to die, he believed that he was going to be with the Lord. Paul was not worried about spending time in purgatory. I am not worried about purgatory. When I leave this earth, I will be with Jesus Christ in Heaven. 2 Timothy 4:7-8 (KJV) I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: 8 Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing. Hebrews 9:27 (KJV) And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: Judgment comes after this life and prayers for the dead are a waste of time. There is no reason to pray for the dead. It is too late for them, because judgment immediately follows death. This is God’s truth. Ezekiel 18:20 (KJV) The soul that sinneth, it shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son: the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him. Romans 2:3-9 (KJV) And thinkest thou this, O man, that judgest them which do such things, and doest the same, that thou shalt escape the judgment of God? 4 Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance? 5 But after thy hardness and impenitent heart treasurest up unto thyself wrath against the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God; 6 Who will render to every man according to his deeds: 7 To them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honour and immortality, eternal life: 8 But unto them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, indignation and wrath, 9 Tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that doeth evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Gentile; No one can escape the judgment of God. What do in this life we will answer for after this life and there is no way to avoid. God is warning you to get right with him before this life is over. If you get a second chance it will be in this life and not in the next. It is time to wake up and see God’s truth. We are not responsible for the sins of others. We are responsible for our own sins. I am not responsible for the sins of others. I am responsible for my own sins. Thank you God, Jesus has forgiven me of my sins long ago and I am going to heaven when I die or leave this world. The Bible tells us we can know and I rest confident in his promise. Father God, Heavenly Father, Help us to see your truths on this matter and get right with you now in this life. Open our eyes and help us to see what you have for us and your blessings for our life. In Jesus Name. Amen.
