What an awesome day of racing for Team Horton XC Racing in the last race of the 2014 S.O.R.C.S Southern Off-Road Championship Series! It started off with Gray and Preston flying off the line at 8:15 this morning in the 65cc 7-9 year old class, and Jesse Cole Henderson in the Jr. Super Mini class. Cole had a great start and battled all morning on the 4 mile, whooped filled course. He finished seventh in the super competitive class. There were a total of twelve entries in Gray and Prestons class. Both boys got an excellent start and entered the woods with Gray in fourth, and Preston in fifth. They hooked up together and made quick work of the course. After the first lap, Gray had moved to third, with Preston on his tail in fourth. On the second lap, they were still nose to tail, coming through the scoring tent second and third. They would finish the race in the same positions, Gray with a second place finish, and Preston with a third place finish! Preston finished the season with a 5th overall in 65cc 7-9 on a stock Yamaha TTR 110! Gray finished the season with the Overall Championship in 65cc 7-9!!! I am so proud of these boys! At 2 pm, it was time for me to take to the course. Since I had secured 2nd in the Quad A class for the season, I decided to move up to the Quad Pro Class. I had a good start entering the woods in third position. Around mile number one, I made a pass and moved up to second. I maintained that position for two laps. I wasnt quite used to the pace we were running, and eventually I was passed. The track was extremely rough today, but still was a lot of fun! I finished the race with a fourth place in Pro, and a fifth overall! It was a very satisfying day!
