What do the ladies of PPR do on a Saturday night? Well, we decide - TopicsExpress

What do the ladies of PPR do on a Saturday night? Well, we decide to drive 45 minutes to Kentucky in the pouring rain at midnight (and if you know how our driving normally is, just go ahead and imagine how it was last night!) to get a dog. We would like to introduce everyone to Willy Nelson, the newest member of the PPR family. He has one of the saddest stories that weve heard. Willy was chained to a building that caught on fire and was badly injured. Once the building burned up enough his chain became loose and he ran away and was missing for four days. They finally found him tangled up in some brush. The owners could not afford to get him treated, and a kind neighbor stepped in and has been taking great care of Willy. Hes been caring for him for several weeks while trying to find help and ended up contacting us last night to help. So, we did. This was one of those cases that we just couldnt say no to for obvious reasons. We were at the Animal ER with Willy until around 4am to get him cleaned up and treated. Shockingly, Willy is one of the luckiest dogs weve seen. We were all surprised that Willy wasnt in shock or septic from infection. Luckily, his burns had not become too infected and had started to heal a little. He has burns on his back, his stomach, his side, all four of his legs, and some on his head and chest areas. The main concern for Willy is one of his front legs. It was fairly badly burned and where it has healed a little, there is a lot of scar tissue right on his (basically elbow) joint and it has tightened up so badly that he cannot straighten out that leg/cant move it properly. So, he may need surgery to correct that at some point. Willy is the absolute sweetest boy! He has been nothing but amazing since we got him. He let the vets do what they needed to help him and didnt bat an eye. Willy will be going to ACC Monday morning to get checked out further, but we did go ahead and heart worm/Lyme/Ehrlichia tested him last night and thankfully it was negative. We spent $175 at the ER for Willy last night and Im sure there will be a lot more vet bills to come for him. He has a long way to go, but he has an amazing desire to live and to love! We are in need of an immediate foster for Willy after Monday. He will need a little extra TLC and will need to go to vet appts in Huntington. Please contact us via private message if you are interested in fostering or Adopting Willy. We are also in need of donations to help with Willys care and vet bills! You can donate via PayPal to pitifulpawsrescue@hotmail or you can donate via this link: youcaring/medical-fundraiser/help-willy-/286293 Please help if you can! We now have willy on antibiotics and pain meds to help him rest and the ER bandaged up the worst of the burns and applied some burn ointment to help pull some of the infection out. This is a new start for Willy and he has already stolen our hearts!
